Run coding agents on DigitalOcean Droplets

Connect a DigitalOcean Personal Access Token and let SAM provision Droplets for workspaces and deployment environments, with Block Storage for persistent deployment volumes.

Why use DigitalOcean with SAM

Global Droplet Regions

Provision SAM nodes across DigitalOcean regions in Europe, North America, Asia, India, and Australia.

Simple PAT Authentication

Connect one Full Access Personal Access Token; SAM encrypts it per user.

Persistent Block Storage

Attach grow-only DigitalOcean volumes to deployment environments with deterministic Linux device paths.

Get started in four steps

Step 1

Create a PAT

Generate a Full Access Personal Access Token in the DigitalOcean API settings.

Step 2

Connect DigitalOcean

Paste the token in SAM Settings → Cloud Providers; SAM validates it against the account endpoint.

Step 3

Run Workspaces and Deployments

SAM provisions Ubuntu 24.04 Droplets in Frankfurt by default and manages their lifecycle.

What you can build

Multi-cloud agent capacity

Add DigitalOcean alongside Hetzner, Scaleway, Vultr, or GCP for regional choice and provider redundancy.

Persistent app environments

Use same-region Block Storage for databases, uploads, and state that survives deployments.

Frequently asked questions

Which DigitalOcean token does SAM need?

Use a Full Access PAT, or custom scopes covering droplets, block storage, tags, account, actions, images, regions, and sizes.

Which region does SAM use by default?

SAM defaults to fra1 (Frankfurt), with other curated DigitalOcean regions available in workspace and deployment settings.

Does DigitalOcean support persistent deployment volumes?

Yes. SAM creates, attaches, detaches, grows, and deletes DigitalOcean Block Storage volumes in the same region as the Droplet.
